At Tijan, our mission is to teach and encourage women to recite the Quran with excellence, bi’ithniAllah. Through Tajweed, memorization, and Tilawah studies, we strive to cultivate a strong connection to the Book of Allah by guiding students from foundational Arabic reading to advanced Quranic recitation and refinement. Our goal is to nurture confidence, precision, and love for the Quran in every stage of a student’s journey.

Our Mission

Tijan is a Qur’an School that started in 2017 at Noor Islamic Cultural Center (NICC) that is exclusively for women. Students are taught by qualified female teachers to recite the book of Allah in a proper manner and taught to prepare other women to be “pillars” of Quranic teaching in our community Inshaa’Allah!

All our teachers are highly qualified and most hold an ijaaza to teach tajweed.

In realization of our mission, many Tijan school graduates actively serve as teachers and volunteers in various NICC programs and and many others serve the Columbus community at large in various capacities.

Workshop offered as needed for those seeking to deepen their understanding of the Tajweed poem by Imam al Jazari or for those seeking ijaza

Classes Offered

At Tijan we offer a variety of classes for the proper recitation and memorization of the Book of Allah for those beginning their journey with it to those proficient in its recitation. We also offer classes for memorization and recitation practice as well a study of Hadith and Seerah.

ANNOUNCING A NEW CLASS for 2026-27 school year- FIQH AL-IBAADAT

Nurania

Foundational Course for beginner reciters or those wanting to perfect their pronunciation. Students will learn the Arabic alphabet with correct pronunciation and go on to join letters and words.

Fee: $250 per semester

Preparatory Tajweed

An introduction to the basic rules of Tajweed essential for reading the Qur'an in the correct and proper way.

Fee: $250 per semester

Intermediate Tajweed

A more detailed learning of the rules of Tajweed essential for reading the Qur'an fluently in the correct and proper way.

Fee: $250 per semester

Advanced Tajweed

This course prepares students to become teachers of tajweed by learning tajweed rules in great detail, practicing tajweed skills and learning to identify weaknesses and mistakes in their own as well as others' recitation and how to correct them.

Fee: $300 per semester

Fiqh Al-Ibaadat

Gain a practical understanding of the Islamic rulings related to acts of worship. Topics include purification (taharah), prayer (salah), fasting (sawm), zakah, and other essential acts of worship, enabling students to practice their faith with knowledge and confidence.
Fee: $150 per semester

Memorization

Memorizing the Qur'an is a dream for all Muslims and this class is a step towards fulfilling that dream. Students will be able to complete memorization of the Quran at their own pace under the guidance qualified teachers who have been through the same journey.

Fee: $150 per semester

Riyadh as-Saliheen

A study of the widely revered compilation of the hadith and actions of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ compiled by Imam An-Nawawi; a comprehensive guide to Islamic ethics, spirituality and character.

Fee: $150 per semester

Sirah of Rasul-Allah ﷺ

A study of the life and lessons of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ based on the book and lecture series by Dr Yasir Qadhi.

Fee: $100 per semester

One on one tutoring

Available only on a limited basis to those who have difficulty working in a classroom/group setting.
